Regional Government moves forward with extension of Collective Bargaining Agreement at Insular Produtos Alimentares

The Regional Government of Madeira, through the Regional Secretariat for Inclusion, Labour and Youth, has made public its intention to issue an Extension Ordinance for the Collective Bargaining Agreement (ACT) signed between Insular Produtos Alimentares, S.A. (Madeira Free Trade Zone) and the Federation of Agriculture, Food, Beverage, Hotel and Tourism Unions of Portugal (FESAHT).

This measure aims to standardize working conditions in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, extending the rules of the aforementioned agreement to employees of the company who are not represented by the signatory trade union association. The explanatory note highlights the existence of social and economic circumstances that make this extension necessary to ensure pay equity in the sector.

Collective Bargaining Agreement Details

The ACT, filed on April 4, 2026 (No. 12/2026), establishes the following main conditions:

  • Validity: Minimum term of two years, with the salary scale and pecuniary clauses lasting 12 months.
  • Meal Allowance: Fixed at €5.90 for each day of effective work and compensatory rest days, effective from April 2026.
  • Salary Update: Provides for an increase of €65 for all workers, with retroactive effects to January 1, 2026.
  • Increase Guarantee: Workers whose base salary scale is higher benefit from a 50% increase on the monthly remuneration starting January 1, 2026.

Interested parties have a period of 10 days, starting from the publication in JORAM (April 13, 2026), to file a reasoned opposition to the draft extension ordinance.
